After I signed my first book contract I set about setting up a website to help promote my books. I enjoyed doing it, all the HTML courses I took in the past paid off. After doing that I started to think of other methods to help promote books. Having a teenage son who is really into the internet he was already using MySpace before I thought of setting one up for myself. He even helped me find a site that had premade templates. There was one other thing he had that I at first didn’t think would be a good option – Facebook.
What started out as a promotional tool, Facebook ended up turning into something else entirely. I found friends that I hadn’t seen or talked to in over 20 years. One friend I found after all the years that had past, actually turned out to be living in the same city as I. She had lived in a city I moved away from when I was 16. Another friend who I hadn’t seen for just about 10 years contacted me as well. It has been bringing back a lot of old memories. The other thing I love about Facebook is the applications. I will admit it, I’m a bit addicted to them. My son thinks its funny to turn his mother into a werewolf using the werewolf application LOL, among other things.
For those of you who are thinking of looking up old friends you should give Facebook a shot. I can’t help wondering who else will be popping back into my life.
